"TOO MODEST"
IN ADVERTISING OUR GOODS. "1 (hink wo aro far too modest," said tho Prime Minister in tho llouso of Representatives yestordny, concluding n remaik nbout tho need for better advertisement of our products in England. Mr. W. H. Field asked tho Primo ilinister whether while in England he was not impressed with tho necessity of putting ourselves abreast of the Australian States and other parts of the Empire in more fully advertising our products in tli o Old Country. Mr. Massoy said that his answer was in the affirmative. Ho was impressed with tho necessity of doing a great deal more than had been done. For the present tho best advertising wo ronld have was to get bofore the British public through tho newspapers tho fact that we had enormous quantities of meat, cheese, and butter in New Zealand stores awaiting shipment. But tins method would not last. After the war the matter would have to bo taken in hand as Australia and Canada had taken it in hand, and wo should have to spend as much as those countries in proportion to our population. Other countries had contrived to keep themselves before the publio in England. _, We had been far too modest in this respect, and wo should have to do great deal more. '
