THE DROWNING OF IRENE QUINN
EVIDENCE AT THE INQUEST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Thames, July 24. At the adjourned inquest to-day into the death of urene Quinn, on I'riday Last. Dr. Derrick deposed that he had made an examination of the body and was convinced that death was caused by drowning. The evidence of various witnesses showed that the little girl was sec-n returning home from school with li Maori boy named Richard Reihana, land a European boy named Edward Claude Gibbons. They were seen going to the bank of the Kerikeri Creek, and after- ' wards both boys were seen going home alone. The girl's clothes were found on the bank, and her naked body was recovered next day. It was proved that the girl could not undress herself. The boy Gibbons made a statement to the effect that Reihana undressed tho girl and put her in the water. Reihana's statement was that the girl was on tho bank of the creek naked when he saw her, and she fell in.
The verdict will be delivered 10-mor-TOW.
