SHOWERY WEATHER
Yesterday was cold and showery, with' a depressing feeling of dampness in the air. Then in the afternoon the' sun broko through the wet blanket and for a brief spell it was quite geniai. Then, the rain descended again. The outlook is hopeful—in spots. According to the official forecast, present indications are for moderate to strong southerly winds, veering to freshening westerlies. The weather will be changeable, with scattered showers, hut a temporary improvement is probablo in tho East Coast districts. The barometer has a rising tendency in the North Island, but is unsteady m the South.
