HEAVY SICK LIST IN EAST AFRICA
QUESTION IN THE WHITISH PARLIAMENT. London, July 20. In the House ■ of Commons, Mr. P. A. Molteno naked-the reason of the sickness and casualtios amongst the native earners in East Africa, which, it was stated, had reached a monthly average of between ton and fifteen thousand. Mr. J. I. Macphersou (Under-Secre-tary to tho War Office) replied that the causes were principally malaria, pneumonia, cerebro-spinal fever, and dysentery. Fifty-two medical men had been posted to temporary hospitals, and additional help from .South Africa was being obtained.—Beuter. ■
