THE GAS SITUATION
A DISTINCT IMPROVEMENT. ' Promptly at 7 a.m. yesterday the gas was admitted to the city mains, and throughout the day an excellent pressure was maintained. The Gas Company had intended to cut off supplies at 5.30 p.m., but 80 well are the new- men doing at Miramar that the supply was kept going for over an liour after that time, uracil to the delight of many of the company's worried clients. Such progress is now being made in the retort house that tho company hopes to be able to do a l'tilo bettor each day until tho full tircntyfour hours 1 service is restored. The gas will be turned on at 6.45 this morning and will continue on until 8 o'clock to-night.
