Another reference was made in the House of Representatives to the-, charges made by the Rev. Howard Elliott against the Auckland Post Office.

Mr. J. S. Dickson asked whether the Government would Iμ prepared to hold an inquiry into the charges before a. judge or magistrate. Sir Joseph Ward said that as soon as the head of the Department had obtained all tho information , he (Sir Joseph Ward) proposed to refer the whole matter to Cabinet. Hβ was quite satisfied that there should ha a full inquiry in the interests, if for no other reason, of the officers whoso reputations wore at stake. It -n-ould be for Cabinet to determine what sort of inquiry should be made—whether it should be before a judge or magistrate.
