Corporal A. 13. Andrews, who has l>ten awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal, is the second Son of DetectiveSergeant Andrews, Wellington. Ha was born at Nelson twenty-one years ago, and was educated principally at the Mount Cook (Wellington) Boys' School, and Wellington College. He is an engineer, and holds a third engineer's certificate in the merchant service. Corporal Andrews was a prominent member of the Vivian Street Baptist Church and the Y.M.C.A., and represented both bodies in various forms of athletics. He left New Zealand as a lance-corporal m the Twentieth Reinforcements (infantry), and his elder brother is serving as eergeant with the Ninth Reinforcements (infantry).

Lieutenant Harry TCeven, who wns recently reported killed in action, was the win of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kuven, of Y.-'aihi, and left with the Main I ; odv as a private. He was through the Gallipoli campaign, and obtained his commission in France this year. It is believed that he was killed on the first day of the offensive at Messines. Private Len ICeven, who is with the Twenty-eighth Reinforcements, is another son of Mr. and Mi's. Keren, and latterly lived in Auckland, ■where he was well known in musical circles, being a prominent member of the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society.

The health of Constable Simpson was toasted to musical honours, after teins; iiroposed by Councillor Bennett, supported by Councillors Marquis and Chitty. Tributes were paid to the worthy manner in which Mr. Simpson hat' always tarried out Tiis duties both inaii official capacity and as a private citizen; and as a member of the Bowling Club he was cited as one of its mainstays.
