FRENCH CLUB

Last evening tup French Club gave a reading of a comedy, "Valerie," one of the plays of Eugene Scribe. The various part 3 were tak-en by the Misses Timmins and Stepkenson, and Messrs. Vhetton, Rigg, and Cookfe. The theme of the play is a young man in love with a blind girl (Valerie). He is anxious if possible to restore her sight, aiid to this end. though he is of noble birth, he becomes the servant of a ekilful French physician! Observing t,he practice of his master by day, and studying deeply at night, he at length.obtains sufficient skill to operate on the blind, and so succoeds in. restoring the blind girl's i sight. The part ot the heroine was well sustained by Mies Tinimins. The reading wus heartily applauded. Before the comedy Miss Koaa Van Stafcren sang.
