N.Z. SOCIETY OF ACCOUNTANTS
BENEVOLENT FUKD. In 'tho last annual report of the council of the Society of Accountants (so»a i memorandum), reference wa,s mado to tho proposed establishment of a heiiovolont fund in conncotiou with tho society. This fund has .now- boon established by the council, ami tho objects and regulations governing Bamo have been delinitely framed god adopted. Tho council has caused to bi) transferred "from the accumulated funds of tho society, to the credit of the benevolent Innd capital account, tho sum of £1000, which has boon invested in Mow Zealand Government 1916 war bonds. Tho council' has further, deckled that all mombors of tho society ijc invited by circular to suhscribc to tho fund, either by way of donation or annual subscription, and that tho allocation of such contributions bo mado in 'accordance with tho regulations of tho fund, or, as desired by the donpr, by'tho Board of Control which lias now been set up, and which comprises Messrs. Potcr Jiarr (chairman), James Drown, Walter Green, ami Eineat W. Hunt. I'hoso cousidered it advisable, bcforo approaching tho general membership, to bring tho matter of contribution to tho fund imder the notice of members of tho council, with tho result that officers and members of the council of the society havo shown their practical inteoest and cooperation in Uio trchenio by contributing to the fund:—Donation to tho capital fund, £165 te.; annual subscriptions, £19 19b. In view of tho very largo number of members of the society on active service, it unfortunately scorns moro than over likely ths,t tho fund may bo called udoji in tho very near future.
"in bringing this matter under the notice of the general members/ the Board of Control does ■ not wish it understood that large contributions are nreessn-rily expected, but nevertheless hopes that members will contribute us liberally as their oircuuistanceß permit.
