TO THE MEN ON THE TYNDAREUS. A report of the stirring speech which Colonel John Ward, M.P. for Stoke-on-Trent, delivered to the officers and men. ot the battalion of tho Middlesex Regiment on hoard tho troopship, Tyndareus, w r hich was mined off the South African coast in February, makes fine reading. ' When the fall-in bugle was sounded and the battalion were lined up on the deck, Colonel .Ward addressed them with these inspiring words: "Officers and men, you have now the supreme test of your lives, the one moment we all ought to have lived for. Remember tnat you are; Englishmen, All the best traditions of our country and race are in-your keeping. You are members of one of sthe most famous regiments iu the British Army. Pray God you do not act in such a. way as to sully its honour. Obey orders, and wo may be able to save rou.all. But, if we cannot, let'us finish'like English gentlemen.
