CONSCRIPTION OF MAORIS
Recruiting districts gazetted.
Respecting the compulsory calling up of Natives for military service, the Defence Minister last night gazetted the following Native Recruiting Districts:— No. 1 (Tokerau) Native Recruiting District.—Comprising the counties of Mangoitui; Whangaroa, Hokianga, Bay or Islands, Whangarei', Hobaon,- Otomatea, Rodney, Waitemata, Eden, Great Barrier Island, together' .with Little Barrier No. 2 (Waikato-Maniapoto) Native Recruiting District-Comprising the counties of. Manakau; Franklin, Coromandel, Thames, Ohinemuri, Piako, Matamata, Raglan, Waikato, Waipa, Kawhia, Awakino, Waitomo, and North-west Taupo (being that portion of West Taupo County lying to the north of the dividing-lino, between the Waikato-ManiaDoto and the Waiariki Maori Land Districts).
No. 3 (Waiariki). Native Recruiting District.—Comnrising the counties of Tauranga, Whakatane, Opotiki, Rotorua, and East Taupo. - No. 4 '(Aotea) Native Recruiting District.—Comprising the counties of Ohura, Clifton, South-west Taupo (being i that ■portion of West Taupo , County lying to tho'south of the dividing-line between the Waikato-Maniapoto and tho Waiariki Maori Land Districts), Kaitieke, Waimarino, Waitotara,- . Wanganni,, 'WhangamQinona, Taranaki, Ugmont, Waimate West, Stratford, Eltham, Hαivera, Patea, Horowhenua, ■ Manawatu, 'Knirangn, Oroua, Poliangina, Kiwitea, ■Rangitikei, Hutt, and Makara.
: No. 5 (Tairawjiiti)-Native Recruiting. District.—Comprising the. ■ counties of Waiapn, Waikohu. Cook; and Wafioa.
No. 6'(lkaroa) Native Recruiting District—Comprising the counties of Hawke's Bay, Waijiawa, Walpukurau, Patangata, Dannevirke, Woodville, Weber, Akitio, Pnhiatiin, Eketahuna, Mauriceville. Castlopoint, Masterton, Wairarapa South, and Featherston.' No. 7 (South Island).-Native Recruiting District.—Comprising all the 'counties in the South ■ Wand of New Zealand, and including Stewart Island County and Chatham Islands County.
