SEVERAL THEFT. CASES. •Mr. L. Q. Iteid, S.M., presided at, the Magistrate's Court yesterday and licard the policc oases. A seventeen-year-old girl was charged: with, the theft ofvfour ladies' ovorcoats and three boys' overcoats. Mr. A. J. Luko appoared for accused,., who was remanded to Monday. For the theft of sereral articles valued at 10s.. the property of somo person or persons unknown, Denis William Quill was sent to gaol for fourteen days. On a further chargo of beinp found drunk ho was fined 10s., in default thxco days' imprisonment. A remand to July 5 war granted in the ease of Percy Joseph Cashman, who was charged with tho theft of motor accessories, tho property of tho Colonial Motor Company. Bail was filed In £20, and 000 surety of £20. Mr. H. F. O'Leary appeared for accused. Eohert Leo Bennett was charged that oil May 23, at Auckland, ho did forgo tho namo oi G. Bennett to a cheque for £16, nnd on the same dato did forgo tho name of G. Andrews to a chequo, for ■£19 lis. Id. On tho application cf.the police ucoused was remanded to appear in Auckland on July 6. Bail was allowed in £50, and ono euroty of £50. A seaman named Terence Kerr, who deserted from an ovorsoa vessel, was £ncd £5, in default seven days' imprisonment, and was ordered to bo returned to*tho vessel.
