j■— ' t . ■WEST COAST DESIRES BEPBESENTATIOtf IN THE CQUNCIL. ; By Telegrapn-Press' Association; i Greymouth, Juno 28. ■The Borough Council, at its meeting to-night, carried tho following resolution unanimously, on. tho motion of the . Mayor i—"That the council considers that, the importance of the various industries of coal, gold, 'table butter, ■cheese, flax, farming, etc., of the West Coast warrants .1 representative in both branches of the Legislature, And therefore respectfully requests the attention of the Government, not only to the advisability, but to the necessity of appointing to the Legislative Council re- ./ preventatives for eaoh of the electorates of Grey nnd Westland." The co-operation of the various local /bodies iu the Grey and Westland electorates was asked in making , representations to the Government-in the matter. Councillors regarded the matter as ■urgent, and hoped the Government would ttake into consideration tho growing imjportanco of the. district. At present 'ihero was no representative of the disjirict in Wellington, whiclt placed the Const in the position of being practically 'disfranchised. Councillors expressed (he jiopo that when appointments to the •Legislative Council were bcine-made the ■district would not be forgotten. The council will confer with other local bodies here and in the Westland electorate on the matter.
