THE EXCESS PROFITS TAX CONDEMNED
(B.v Telegraph—Special Correspondent.l Masterton, June 25. ].u tho course of his reply to a. deputation who presented a petition, in favour of 6 o'clock closing of hotels, Mr. 6. R. Sykes, M.l\, condemned tilio excess prolits tax, and said it was the most inequitable tax ever devised He favoured substituting it witr an increased graduated land and income tax, with stiff graduations.
