BLACKBALL MINES DISPUTE
TERMS 01-' AGREEMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Greymouth, June 25. The Conciliation Council sat to-day to consider the. Blackball Mines dispute. Mr. W. H. Hagger, Conciliation Commissioner, presided. The assessors were: For the mine-owiifcrs, M'cssr.V T. A. James, J. A. C. Bayno, and Walter Loiteh; for the union, Messrs. ./. Taylor, "William Bromilove, and William Bolderstone. A complete agreement ivas reached, the following being the alterations and neiv clause to the old award:— Tonnage Rates.—Twopence a ton; ordinary rates to be paid for three shift places or places where a third shift is worked; sixpence per shift extra to be paid for truckers, and shiftmen on the third shift only. Wet Places.—Men in wet places ehall work six hour shifts, such time to be computed from time of entering the mine until return to the surface; two hours at the rate of two shillings per hour to lie paid extra per shift for each man on contract. manager of the mine and tho check inspectors appointed by tho union. .. Timberings.—Ordinary sets of timber in toils, levels, and headings, 2-s. Bd. a set; special timber in sets over eight inches in diameter at small end, 3s. a set; if blinded, 2s. extra; stringers, 2s. each. Timbering back along the roadway to be paid sixpence for prop sets as above; this to apply to miner's own working place. Company to place timber in working places; miners to keep timber twelve feet back fi'om the working face. Jig props, Is. 6d. « . NEW CLAUSES.
Cheek Weight Fund—Company to deduct check weight money from the wages of each miner if authorised by such miner to do so, under the provisions of tlio Wages Protection' and Contractors Liens Act, 1908.
, A war bonus of 17| per cent, shall bo paid on thc- gross earnings to all employees working on contract under this award.
A lvar bonus of 20 per cent glial 1 lie paid oil the gross earnings of all employees working oa wages -under this award.
'L'ho award shall come into force on June 2, 1917, and shall continue in force during the duration of the war, and six, months thereafter, provided such terms sliall not exceed a. period of three years from the date of the award.
