He was struck by a piece of shrapnel, but Ins wound is not serious. Lieutenant Beethnm left New Zealand with the main body. Kor some time past lio has been A.D.C. to General Sir 11. Russell.
Tim Rev. Monsignor M'Kcnna arrived in Wellington from Masterton yesterday to tako part in the momoriaL service which is to be held in honour of the lato Chaplain-Major M'Monamin, formerly of Potone, who was killed in France recently.

Mr. Charles Avery, an old and highly esteemed settlor in tho Pahiatna district, died yesterday morning, aged bb, says a Press Association message. .Ho had been in ill-health for some time. Deceased was a county councillor and a late president of the Agricultural Association. He had been connected at various times with several other institutions.
Mr ¥. H. Pope, Auckland, manager of the State Tire Department, arrived in. town by yesterday's express.
Mr. Gerald Bell, for the past fifteen years on the staff of Messrs. Levin and Co. Ltd., has resigned in order to tane up a position in the Standard Insurance Company, Liinted, in Wellington. Mr W. Pryor, secretary of the NewZealand Employers' Federation has been, advised that his son, Private J. Pryor has been slightly wounded in action, at the front in trance.
Mr. H. I , - Allen, of Wellington, lias received advice that his son, Sergeant h. H. Allen, has been wounded. Sergeant Allen left as a private with the iNintli Reinforcements. He was in Egypt tor seme time, and then went to Prance. In the Sorame offensive Sergeant Allen was close to his brother, who wus killed, iio received his stripes in. the field, and for a time acted as company quartermastersergeant. Ho is at present an jnniate of Brockenhurst Hospital. Mr. Samuel Dawson, one of Wellington's oldest settlers, died suddenly at his residence at Island Bay on Saturday. Tho deceased, who was in his 79th year, was an engineer by trade, and some years left Wellington to enter upon a farming life at Newman. Hβ was a prominent member of the Wellington Working Men's Club in years gone by.
Lieutenant R. D. Doughty, of kelson, has been awarded ■ the Military Cross. Lieutenant Doughty is , well-known in Nelson, having been in the employ ot the New Zealand Clothing Factory for some time. He enlisted with the Australian forces.
Private advice was received in. Christchurch on Friday of the death from wounds on Wednesday last of Lieutenant A. C. ("Am") Wilson, second son of the late Mr. Alexander Cracroft Wilson, of Christclmrch. Official advice had been received earlier that Lieutenant Wilson was seriously wounded on June 8. Lieutenant Wilson, who was about 36 years of age, was educated at the Christchurch Boys' High School. Hβ was a wellknown Bugby footballer, and represented four provinces—Canterbury, Otago, Wellington, and Auckland. He served with the New Zealand Mounted Kifles in the South African war, and during the present war enlisted with the Thirteenth Keinforcements.. In England just before the present offensive he was offered the position of bomb instructor, but he declined the offer, preferring to be with his regiment, the Canterbury Battalion.
