i\N IAU'OKTANT MEETING. A mecling of tho District ]jxoouliv» Committee of iho Wellington 'Milil»i7 District was held nt tho Nntional sorve Office on Saturday. Tho severnl groups woro -.ropresentcd—Wellinffton City, Palmerslon North, Wa.ncanui, Uannovirko, Nn.pier, and (iisborne. Colonel Porter, O.I!., Dominion Commandant, in the absence of a district commandant, presided. Tho business brought forward and fully considered was:—{l) Kccoive president's report ro the etatiie of resorvo from January 25, IDIS, to .Tune 30, 1917. (i) Read correspondence from other districts of tho Dominion, also to.solution of tho Governinj; Council <is mibmittwl to tho Hon. Ministor of Dofenco, and replies thereto. (3) Final rofiolution of tho council of May 18, submitted to .Hon. Minister, and Cabinet decision of Slay 2.1. [i) Pass resolution supporliiiß or otherwise the action of other districts re council's resolution of Max 18. Tho corrospoirlonce and references laid before the oxecutivo was fjilly and curofnlly discussed, and tho following-resolu-tion was unanimously passed:—"Tliis Wellington District Exccutivo Committoe, representing nil ?roup>!. No. 5 Wellington, No. G Palmerston North, No. Ga Wniißanui, Ts'o. 7 Napier, Mo. 7b Drninevirke, and No. 7c-Gisborno, after fully consideriiiß the -resolutions arid\remits by Iho Governinj Council to the Hon.. Minister of Defence, also tho Cabincl's final refusal to have the National Reserve organisation duly recognised as an integral lxirt of tho Defence I''orcps, resolves, that we fully endorse the resolutions of tho Governing Council, that tho existing regulations bo cancelled. Wo also support the action of tho district commandants in resigning their several appointments as members of tlio govern-' in" l»dy, tho refusal by tho Government of all recommendations leaving no other course open. The committee in addition recommoml the Dominion Commandant prior to rotiral to issuo general directions moi-ntnininpr tho instructional staff classes, Medical Service Coras, and con. serving the welfare of all existing active units or National Reserve Rifle Clubs throughout the Dominion till at least the end of tho war."
