Kennedy—Ko. 4 Queen's Wharf. HAD .WEATHER. Yesterday's bad weather in Wellington was apparently felt at a largo number of other ports, and as iv consequence eMppins wua generally deranged. Ckinccrning Wellington, tho shipping was practically nil, thero being two arrivals and Ihreo departures for. the day. Tho arrivals ivero the Ripple and Kaltoa, both, of which. vos3cle wero delayed by tho heavy gale nnd high seas. Tho Kaitoa did not net into port until flftor noon, and experienced a head wind and choppy seas, which made things unpleasant for passengers. Tho \essel put' out again last, nisht on her usual trip to Nelson end MotucVa, and was tho only small vessel to venture out during tho day. Tho Pateens, an 4 Maori, wcro tho other two departures. Bad weather and, a. southerly galo prevented Uio Alexander leaving Wangaiiui yesterday, and her departure from Wellington hue. now been postponed until to-morrow at 5 p.m., when sho leaves for tho West Const direct. No word was iciieived yesterday of tho Kamo, which left Greymouth. on Sunday for Wellington. Sho is probably ehclterinE down tho coast. This also applies to tho Koutnmii, which, is dno from tho East Coast, but sho is , probably under cover at CasUepoint. As usual, tlin Jfikaji left Nelson laet evening, and should arrive during tho morning. Tho Maeic is loading nin.rhlo et Sandy Bay for Wellington. Sho should gel baclf about Thursday or Friday. From Miramar the John will leavo today for southern porls. The vesecl should arrive back about next llonday. It is expected that the Tainui will get to Wellington on Thursday from Lyttelton. Tho vessel will leave tho following day for Picton and Wan»raui. On hor trip from southern ports to Now Plymouth, tho Oorinna. will miss the usual call at Wellington thie timo. Thfi Kdltapo, according to advico received from Wostport yesterday, was to leavo tho southern port to-day at 2 a.m. for Wellington with. coal. ■ With a load of coal for New Plymouth the Karn left Westport on Saturday. After discharging at New Plymouth, the vessel cornea on to Wellington, whero sho will lofld for New Plymouth. Ii is expected that ehe will get away on Wednesday or Thursday. Tho scarcity of shipwrights was brought under the notice of the First Auokland Military Serrico Board on Friday in an appeal for exemption of a. member of the Auckland Shipwrights' Union. Tho appeal was supported by the manager of tho Union 6toam fillip Company. Tho secretary of tho union, phlng evidence, said the company had made repeated applications to him for men, whom ho had been unable to supply. Of about 90 members of the union at the beginning of tho war about 10 had gone to the front. Tho board adjourned the case until to-morrow for inauiry.
