NAVY LEAGUE
Tho monthly meeting of the Wellington Navy League was attended by Mr. J. B. Harcourt (in the chair), Mrs. HallThompson, Mrs. Bradney Williams, Messrs. Barry Keesing, A. Wiren, C. R. Smith, C. W. Palmer, and R. Darroch. Mrs. Hall-Thompson, president of the Ladies' Auxiliary, reported that new branches had been formed at Picton, Wanganui, and St. Mary's School, Stratford, and that an application had been received for a branch at Scots College, Wellington. She also reported that tho spinnery would bo opened at Mrs. Steel's on June 11, and that .£IOO received from the Waipukurau Jockey Club had been donated to the mine-sweepers. Tho Ladies' Auxiliary has donated £i 50 to tho Lord Roberts Memorial Workshops for Disabled Soldiors and Sailors. Mr. C. J. Parr, M.P., will lecture on behalf of the Ladies' Auxiliary about his visit to tho Grand Fleet. Tho matter of tho conference of Navy League branches suggested by Christchurch was left over till next month. It was'decided to invite Mr. Darling, secretary of tho Otago, branch of tho Navy League, to come to Wellington for the purpose of delivering a series of the lantern lectures which have been so successful in the southern schools.
