MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. For insobriety, William Mitchison was fined 205., in default 48 hours' imprisonment'. An old offender named William Wilson was lined 405., in default seven days' imprisonment, and for a breach of his prohibition order a further fine of 40s. was imposed, tho alternative' boing seven days in gaol. Six first offendere were convicted and discharged. Robert ,Tohn Ashley wns charged with committing; an indecent act in Nowtown Zoo. Sub-Inspector Dew said the facts disclosed a more serious offence. A. remand for a, week was granted, and bail was fixed at J875 and one surety of .£75.
