EMPIRE DAY
To-day will bo observed as' a pretty close holiday in Wellington in honour of tho King's Birthday, which is also Empire Day. The Civil Service, banks, insurance and legal offices will bo closed, and as it is a holiday under the provisions of the Factories Act and Shops and Offices Act, as well as being included in most of tho trado awards, there is not likely to be much doing m tho city. Beyond a few football matches there arc 110 special holiday attractions. Tho Stato schools, which have been closed for term holidays during tho past week, will reopen to-morrow morning.
