MIRAMAR BOROUGH
MEETING OF THE 'COUNCIL.
The fortnightly mooting of Iho Miramar Borough CouuoiL was held last evening, the Mayor, Mr. J?. Townsend, presiding. There were also present Councillors H. K. Robortshaw, AV. H. Green, J. Pollock, and, H. Hawthorn. _ A letter was received from the \Yailii Borougli Council asking for support to a protest against the suggested sale of the State coal mines. In commenting on the matter, the Mayor said ho ■did not think it was a subject, for the consideration of local bodies. Ho thought it. would be unwise for them to interfere with present- arrangements. After some discussion, it was decided to receive the letter. „,,.., i; Mr A. D. Crawford wrote with respect to the dedication of a road running due south from Broadway Road for a distance of 16 chains, and if was Tesolved to deal with the matter in committee. The estimates for the year were tabled, and consideration of same-was taken m committee. . . The town clerk reported the results ot his inquiries with respect to the insurance of the motor bus. A comprehensive policy covering tha bus against the risk of fife up to JGSGO; claims by ]!>««* for injuries received up to claims by third parties, that is pedesS, for indies up to .£IOOO, the premium -would be m. It w» Pwate* out that the risk of fire was very small, as the bus was housed in a large brick building where there were no naked lights about, and.the petrol tanks were fed bv suction. Councillors generally were of opinion that the premium was Ce considering that the bus ran on S on which there w yerylittle ped trian traffic.
