MEETING OF THE 'COUNCIL.

The fortnightly mooting of Iho Miramar Borough CouuoiL was held last evening, the Mayor, Mr. J?. Townsend, presiding. There were also present Councillors H. K. Robortshaw, AV. H. Green, J. Pollock, and, H. Hawthorn. _ A letter was received from the \Yailii Borougli Council asking for support to a protest against the suggested sale of the State coal mines. In commenting on the matter, the Mayor said ho ■did not think it was a subject, for the consideration of local bodies. Ho thought it. would be unwise for them to interfere with present- arrangements. After some discussion, it was decided to receive the letter. „,,.., i; Mr A. D. Crawford wrote with respect to the dedication of a road running due south from Broadway Road for a distance of 16 chains, and if was Tesolved to deal with the matter in committee. The estimates for the year were tabled, and consideration of same-was taken m committee. . . The town clerk reported the results ot his inquiries with respect to the insurance of the motor bus.
