AMATEUR OPERATIC SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the AA'ellington Amateur Operatic Society was held in the society's; room last evening. Mr. A. AY. Newton occupied the chair, and there was a large attendance of members . The election of officers resulted a 9 follows:—President, Hon. A. L. Herdman; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. W. Newton, W. 11. A tack, P. Levi, T. M. Wilford, M.P., and _. V. R. Meredith; committee, Messrs. A. Shaw, H. Plim•mer, W. Smith, Misses Isaacs and Saun. ders, Messrs. H. D. Bridge, D. A. Kenny, A 7. G. lihind, 0. H. Green, and Dr. Isaacs (the last five elected as a graceful act to former committeemen now under arms); musical director, Mr. Bernard ]?. Page* hon. treasurer, Mr. W. Eraser;, hon. auditors, Messrs. E. W. Hunt and D. Jt. Menzies; hon. secretary, Mr. E. B. Vance. The question as to whether the society phall produce an opera this'year was referred to the new committee.
