FIRST MEETING DURING THE WAR
MANY MEMBERS ABSENT
(liec. Hay 31, 5.55 p.m.) Zurich, May 30. A wireless message states that tho Beichstag had met for the first time since the war began. The oldest deputy presided, pending the election, of a President. .Many members were absent. Thirty-five are undergoing imprisonment for political offfcneos. Tributes were paid to the memory of-tho late Emperor .Franz Josef, and were followed by a formal demonstration^ f loyalty to Emperor Karl. Prince Windischgraetz pre-' sided over tho House of Peers.—Renter.
