COLD SOUTHERLY WEATHER
The early niorning of yesterday' was beautifully fine, but the promise of fair weather was not fulfilled. About 9 o'clock the blue-grey bank came up from tlio south, with a heavy sea, and before long a hard, bleak southerly, with drenching rain-squalls', was blowing. In the evening the weather cleared, and the force of the wind'moderated, though the night air was keen. The unexpected change of the morning, states the official report, was connected with the pasting of a small but intense disturbance during ' Wednesday night, which was followed by the southerly "buster", of yesterday. " Snow and sleet fell in the south. Present indications are for strong southerly winds, with eold, squally, and showery weather. The barometer is rising everywhere.
