DEATH UNDER ANAESTHETIC. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, May 25. An inquest was held to-day into the death of Viola Cookson, a married woman, 25 years of age, who died io-hos-pital on Wednesday under anaesthetic The medical evidence was to. tho effect that 'deatli had resulted from toxic condition, due to'paralytic obstruction of the bowels. An operation was undertaken as a last resort. A verdict was returned in accordance with tho medical Evidence Deceased's husband statwlthat his wife had never been well since January, when she, was wrongly operated on for appendicitis.
DEATH FROM HEART FAILURE. Hamilton, May 25. At an inquest touching the sudden death of John Michael M'Carthy,' a wellknown resident of the Waikato and an ex-resident of Christclnirch, a verdict of death from heart failure, caused by the excessive drinking of alcoholic liquor, was'returned.
