, CITY CASES SEAMEN AND SLAUGHTERMEN The Third Wellington Military Service Board, consisting of Air, \V. H. ' Kefton Moorhouse (chairman), Mr. A. . O'L. Considine, and Sir. Al. J. Mack, sal in Wellington yesterday. Captain Spratt , was tho military representative. An employer's appeal w;w made on behalf of Harry Tozor, chief officer of one the Huddart-Parker Company's steamers, engaged in thn intercolonial trade. Tho case was adjourned in order that 'Tozer's evidence might be taken, there being a suggestion that the Reservist had an Austrglian domicile. Nornian Rivers Tvitching, marine ennow in tho employ of the Kelburn Tram Company, appealed on the ground of undue hardship. Mr. O'Regan, who appeared on his behalf; stated that Hitching'had volunteered for sendee and had been rejected. He subsequently married, and his wife's health was not , good. Tn answer to tho chairman, the appellant stated that he would bo willing lo undertake work as a marino engineer in . the ev/ent of his being called upon.. Tho ease was adjourned for three months, with exemption from scrvice in the' meantime. Au appeal made by lh» Blackball Coal Company on behalf of W. W. M'G'regor, marino' engineer, was adjourned for two months for tho production of 'additional evidence. Air. TV. T. Young, secretary of tho Seamen's and Fireman's Union, appeared in support of appeals made by members of that body. Exemption on I,he usual terms was allowed the following: men: — Seamen: William Crowther, Wellington; John Mulvenna, Wellington; Thomns Jeromson, Wellington; Charles Benson, Wellington; William Collopy. TVanganui; •Tames H. Henderson, Napier; John Nicholson, Wellington; Alexander Mercer, Wellington; TV. R. Williams, Wellington'; Neil Livingstone, Wellington; Alexander 'Keith, Wellington; George BUis, Wellington; James Thompson, Wellington; V. E. Trevithick, Wellington. Firemen: Wm. M. Wildman, Wellington, George Bargory, Felix Kaney, R. Stay, W. J. W. Price, H. Mouton, Thos. Hoardman, John Coohrane, John Armour, 0. A. Kenning, Appeals mado on behalf of James Connor (fireman), G. A. Conway (seaman), and J. H. L. Howard (seaman) were dismissed, Mr. Young having been unable to discover the present whereabouts and occupations'of the men.. 'Iho cases of Peter M'Bride and Ajijjus Thompson (seamen) were, adjourned for a month in order that further inquiries might be made. Appeals lodged by Mr. M. J. Beardon, secretary of the Slaughtermen's Federation, on behalf of several slaughtermen, were also considered. Tho cases of E. !P. Horotiu (Wellington), J. N. Cathro (Wanganui), and K. Torrance (TVaimate) were ndjcm°nc4 sine dio, tho men to remain in thehj present occupations. : An adjournment for two weeks for inquiry was granted in the ease of A. W. Abley (Waipara) and A. J. iWilson. The board adjourned until 10 o'clock this morning. •
