« In spite of the weather prediction, yesterday turned out to be a very fine, clear day ill the Wellington district, the aiibeing comparatively mild, with a fine still night following. Cool and changeable weather, with showers, says the official report by the Meteorological Department, has prevailed in most parts of the Dominion, southerly winds have predominated, and gales were reported yesterday from Cape Maria Von Diemen and Maijakau Heads. Present. indications aro for decreasing southerly winds, giving place soon .to increasing westerlies in and southwards of Cook Strait. are to expect changeable conditions generally, with rain probable in all tho AVost Coast and southern districts.
