BREACH OF PROMISE SUIT
SOLDIER-FIANCEE CHANGES HIS MIND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, May 16. At. the Supremo Court to-day" Agnes Adela Marryatt', of Milton, sued Erek Moon, of Dunedin, bank olerk, for £500 damages for breach of promise of marriage. For the prosecution it was stated that defendant became engaged to the plaintiff at the end. of 1913, and visited /her mother's house regularly. He gave plaintiff an engagement ring in 1914, when ho was twenty-one years of age. He left for the front in October, 1915, and ■ returned wounded in December, 1916. While absent he kept up a correspondence, but on his return informed the plaintiff he wished to terminate the engagement, as lie had found somebody else ho liked better. He demanded his release, but plaintiff refused. She had acted as his attorney during his absence. Defendant's counsel admitted the facts except the statement that defendant had found anyone he liked better. Plaintiff was awarded £100 and costs..
