INSOBRIETY.
For insobriety nine- first offenders were convicted and discharged. Alexander Walters, Timothy Donovon, William M'Mekin, and Ernest Edward Maxey wore- jinod 205., in default seven days' impriseument. A prohibition oi'dor was issued agninst Maxey. A soldier was convicted of drunkenness and of using obscene language, and was ordered to be handed over to the military authorities. MAINTENANCE AND SEPARATION. Maintenance and separation cases wero dealt with as follow:—William Molloy was ordered to pay 2s. 6d. per week off arrears, in default" seven days' imprisonment. William Waters, whoso arrears totalled £9 18s. 10d., wa-s ordered to pay 20s. per week, in default fourteen days in gaol; Thaddeus Edward Doody, whoso arrears amounted to £7 10s., was ordered to pay 10s. per week, in default fourteen days' imprisonment; Thomas Courtenay Devery was ordered to pay 2s. 6d. per week, in default seven days' imprisonment. Honora Josephine Jorgenson, for whom Mr. A. H. Hiridmarah. appeared, proceeded against her husband, Johann Theodore Jorgeusdn, represented by Mr. E. M. Sladden, for separation and maintenance, on the grounds of persistent cruelty. A separation order was made, and defendant was ordered to contribute 30s. a week towards his wife's support. Tho case against Thomas Henry. Te Puni, on a charge, of disobeying a maintenance order (the arrears totalled £334 13s. 4d.), was adjourned for a week to allow of a settlement being reached by the parties concerned.
