The business session, commenced at--10.30 a.m.- in- St. Peter's Schoolroom, when His Eordsbip the Bishop of Wellington (Dr. Sprott) preeided, and delivered the.openihg address. . Tilie General Secretary stated thai tho society had ISB branches iu.. New Zealand, with a membership of 2200, while seven years ago there...were only 49 brancJie& Of 352 members who h&d: gone on active service, 73 had fallen, and 60 had returned. . Three braJich secretaries had rnno'o the supremo sacrifice. Canon T. F. Taylor, who took. part, in tho lus-t-brio landing at Atizoc, was heartily congratulated. Military branches of the (J.E.M.S. had heen established at Sling Camp, Brockenhurst, and at two baso hospitals, and a big conference of O.E.M.S. members had been held at Cairo.
] The Rev. B. Fulford, who had been I engaged to fill the position of organising secretary, was killed in Mesopotamia before he was able to commence his work. It was hoped that a chaplain, who was at present in France, might be available after he had completed a six months' engagement in India into which he. had entered, and which would expiro t next year. Greetings were received from the j Primato, the Bishop of Christchurch, i the Bishop of Waipawa, the- Bishop of. ! Auckland, diocesan and branch eenro- ! taries, and also from tho general,'sec- , j retary of Australia. The reports for the year submitted by ■j the executive aod by the general sec- ! retary (Ven. A credit halnnca of £60 was shown in the report of the treasurer of .tho i Organising Secretary Fund, i At the afternoon session ji resolution j -was passed endorsing a. by-law of the !
