PURCHASE OF THE LIQUOR TRADE

London, May 4. The Upper House of Convocation passed a resolution in favour of 1 the State purchase of the liquor trade because it would give the public control of the manufacture and sale of intoxicants.
. The Bishops of Lincoln and London opposed the. motion, but the Archbishop of Canterbury approved because 'it would give the* Church an opportunity of participating in . the control. —Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
