In a letter written by Mr. Will B. Matheson and published in The .dominion of April 26, the writer disapproved of an art union being held to raise funds for the erection of a hostel. for crippled' and wounded soldiers. The secretary of the art -unibiij Mr. B. Sutherland, has asked us to state that lie was personally requested by the Minister of Internal Affairs to conduct the art -union. People who do not hold with this method of raising money by allowing all classes to contribute to eiieh a worthy object may send subscriptions, to The Dominion, office, where a list has been opened and subscriptions will bo duly acknowledged. Such funds will be kept entirely separate from art .union receipts, and will, if it is desired, be expended in any direction that the donor may desire.
