HONEY. MARKET, Tlio Bank of England discount rate was on January 2. 1914, reduced from 5' to '!} per cent., on January 22 it was reduced to 4 per cent., and on January 23 i ror cent. On July 30 tho rato was raised to 4 ner cent., and on July 31 It was raised to 3 per cent., and on August 1 it was further advanced to 10 per cent. On August
6 the rate was reduced to 6 per cent., on August 7 it was further reduced to 5 per cent., on July 13. 1916. it was raised to 6 per cent., on January 12, 1917, it was reduced to 5J per cent., and on April 5 it was further reduced to 5 per cent,
OPEN MARKET KATES. The open market Miscount rate for three months' hill is 45 per cent., as compared with Ai per cent, last week, and 4 9-16 per cent, last year. Auckland, April 27. For the four-weekly period ended April 23, the Waihi-Paeroa Extraction Company treated 14,500 tons of tailings for a return of £4850. The company has now treated 727,300 tons of tailings for returns totalling £218,361. The company stopped work last Friday for want of coal, but expects to start again next week.
