PETONE A BECORD POLL There was a record poll in Petone Borough, owing, it is said, to the live interest in the Mayoral election and the half-holiday issue. The Saturday half-holiday was really carried by Lower Hutt. In the final result Saturday won by 230 votes, but in Petone there was a majority of 135 for Wednesday. The Kaiwarra candidates were elected without a contest. RETURNED WITHOUT CONTEST. In tho boroughs of Eastbourno, Karori, and Miramar no contests were necessary, only the required number of candidates having been nominated for the Mayoralty and council in each district.
