HEMP AND TOW GRADED
The following return allowing the quantities of hemp, tow, and stopper slips graded at the ports of the Dominion during March, ha* been prepared by the Department of Agriculture :— The total number of bales of h«mp graded was 16,181, as compared with 16,622 for the corresponding period of last year, a'decrease of 441 bale's. For the twelve months ended March 31, the number of bales graded was 149,898; ns compared with 138,275 for the previous twelve months, an increase of 11,623 bales. During the month 3458 bales of tow were dealt with, as compared with 4598 for the corresponding inoiith of last year; a decrease of 1140 bales. For the twelve months ended March. 31, the number of bales graded was 37,529, as compared with 38,889 for the previous twelve months, a. decrease of 1360 bales. During- the month tho number of bales of stripper slips graded was 653, as compared with 831 for the corresponding month of last year, a decrease of 178 bales. For the twelve months, ended 'March 31 tho number of bales graded was 4895, as compared with. 6175 for the previous twelve months, a decrease of 1280 bales.
