SECOND DIVISION LEAGUE
—. » .— CONSTITUTION ADOPTED. A meeting of Second Division .Reservists and their wives was held in the Concert Chamber,, Town Hall, hist night, when tho draft constitution and rules of the newly-inaugurated league wero submitted by the committee for approval. Mr. It. A. Armstrong occupied tho chair. Tho attendance was not very largo. <The constitution adopted included the following clauses:— _ The name shall be "The Wellington Second Division League." Objects.—(a) To -demonstrate- the loyalty of reservists to His Majesty the lung and his Government in Now 2eaJand by assisting in every way possible to carry the war. to a victorious conclusion, (b) To endeavour to secure by constitutional-methods adequate allowances and pensions for all soldiers and thoir dependants, (c) To inquire into tho provisions of tho Defenco Act and Military Servico Act and Regulations inado thereunder with a vioiv to making such suggestions to Government as may be deemed .to assist the smooth working of the Acts and tho general welfare of soldiers and their dependents, (d) The league shall be strictly non-political. . Membership.—(a),'Tho lcagtio shall consist of officers, committee, and members and of us .many branches as may bo deemed advisable to establish (b) All Socond Division reservists and • their wives, who approve of its objects shall bo ■ eligible to become members upon enrolment through the-■officers- or accredited agents of the league aiid on payment of subscription as determined under these rules. Any soldier honourably discharged from tho Forces may bo admitted as a member of the league. Subscription.—The annual subscription shall be 2s. 6d. payablo on or before May 31 in each year or on joining. Any member absent from tho Dominion on -active servico shall remain a member but no subscription shall be payablo by him. ■ Mr. A. L. Monteith moved that the committee be recommended, when considering tho questions of pay and pensions, to ask for not less'.than. 10s. per day for each soldier, with pensions and allowances in proportion.—The motion was carried. .. :

A letter was received from Colonel Pcrter, C.8., Dominion Commandant of the National -, Reserve, offering to men of tho league the facilities of the.
