Wedding at Klmbol'on. The marriage took place in St. Saviour's Church, lumbolton, on Monday, of Miss Evelyn' Baddeley, daughter of Mr. Baddeley, Bank of New Zealaud, Kimbolton, and Mrs. Badde- ' ley, to Dr. John 8. Beedie, of Dan- ( nevirke. The ceremony was performed by the liev. 11. Mayo. The church had been prettily decorated for the occasion, and a large gathering of friends were present. The bride, who was Riven away by her father, wore a gown of white georgette, draped with chiffon, the faintest touches of pink being added, and the veil .of old Limerick lace was fastened with a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of white flowers. The bridesmaid was Miss Beth Baddeley (cousin), and she wore a frock of pink crepe' do chine, with overdress of chiffon, and a black picture hat trimmed with autumn leaves and berries. Two little maids of. j honour, . Jean Beedie (niece of the bridegroom), and Evelyn Broad (daughter'of Dr. New-ton-Broad, of Feilding), were dressed in white lace frocks, with pink sashes and wTiite chiffon hats, with tiny pink chiffon roses to hold the ribbon streamers in place. The. groomsman was Lieut. Harry .M'Crea. '-After'the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents, where a large marquee had been erected on the lawn, in which the wedding breakfast was set. Mrs. Baddeley, wore a navy blue costume with a hlack toque, and Mrs. Beedie (sister-in-law of the bridegroom) was in white crepe, with a floral overdress, and hat to match. Among the guests were Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Perry, and Mrs. Wallace, wife of Sergeant Wallace, who is serving in Samoa. The bridegroom left with the Main Expeditionary Force, and saw; service at Gallipoli. Later in the day, Dr. and Mrs. Beedie left for the north, the latter travelling in a dark green gaberdine costume with hat to match. Charley's Aunt Social Club. Another of the fortnightly evenings of the Charley's Aunt Social Club was held on Wednesday, ill the club rooms, in Courtenay Place. Mr. E. H. Cavell
acted as chairman. • The programme of entertainment, which was mucli appreciated, w-as contributed to by Miss Hettie Hargood.Mr. D. V. M'Keuzie, Mr. Charles Melvin, Mr. .A. G. Wallace and Mr. W. W. Crawford, with songs: Mr. R. A. Oswin and Miss Mabel Williams, recitations; Corporal P. M'Donald, of Christchureh, a musical monologue; Major Oman contributed some very interesting stories of .the war, and an instrumental'trio (piano;''.violin, and 'cello) was played by the Misses Turner (2), and Mr. Norman Watson. .The club's orchestra played the overture, and Mr. Frank Thomas was the accompanist of the evening. A comedietta, "The , Recruiting Office," was taken part in bv Mr. W. B. Keanoy and Mr. Phipps Williams. Patriotic Cake Room. The committee of the. Miss L. Rathbono lias returned to the Hutt from a visit-to Wafjpawa. Mrs. W. Earle. - ■At yesterday's meeting of the- Arlington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, it was mentioned that, of the present members .Mesdames Wilford and (Dr.) Platts-Mills had not offered themselves for re-election. Mr. C. M. Luke, who brought up the matter, referred to the excellent services Mrs. Wilford had given, and mentioned especially her good work in connection with the Children's Hospital. Ho moved that "a vote of appreciation of the services rendered to the board by these two ladies" bo recorded in the minutes, and such was unanimously agreed upon and done. • . . . ■" . ■
