MASTERTON NOTES
The lengthy drought that has been experienced in the Wairarapa was broken at an early hour on Wednesday morning, when steady rain descended. The effect upon stock, as well as upon root crops, will be most appreciable. The Masterton County Council has decided to erect a toll-gate on the Mas-terton-Castlepoint road, near the Lower Taueru. A gate existed there some years ago, but was done away with. The increased cost of maintenance, said to be due to motor traffio, has induced the council to revert to the old order of things. . . . The Masterton Boy Scouts held a camp at the foot of Mount Holdsworth during the Easter holidays. The Presbyterian Young (Women's Bible Class Union held a camp at Masterton at Easter. . About forty delegates, were present from Various parts of the Dominion.
