Orange Institution, resumed to-day. • , Resolutions were passed noting, with satisfaction that Mr. Massey, during his visit Home, had refused to' be drawn into the Home R/ule controversy, and emphatically protesting, agaiiisfr Sir Joseph Ward, while representing the Dominion, associating himself with the Home Rule controversy; assuring the Minister of Education of the lodge's profound agreement with the decision of Cabinet to maintain free,, undenominational education in New Zealand, and _ expressing sympathy with the Minister upon the attacks made on him; drawing the attention of the Act-ing-Prime Minister to the intensely objectionable references to shrines and crucifixes in" letters of' sympathy sent out by the High Commissioner; drawing the attention of the Acting-Prime Minister to the fact that a custom was being established by the Roman Catholic authorities of celebrating Mass in public places of tho Dominion; and asking tho Government to take' steps to prevent what is little short of an outrage upon Protestant sentiment; and protesting against the presence lat the Vatican of a representative of ■ the Court of St. James. The following office-bearers have so' far been elected for the ensuing'year: -R.W.G.M., Bro. Liddell. (Timaru); G.D.M., Bro'.' Hay (Timaru); Grand Chaplain, Rev, 01phert.(Te Awamutu); Grand Foreman of Committee, Bro. J. S. Dickson (Parnell); Grand Secretary, Bro. Leaman (Wellington); Grand Senior Deacon, Bro. Davidson (Hastings) ; Grand Junior'Dcacon "Bro. Melrose (Waihi); Grand Tyler, Bro. Lyons (Dunedin). Several other offices are to; he'filled, and as soon as the list has been completed the installation ceremony will take place. The delegates from, tlie other centres leave for, their homes tomorrow.
