TRENTHAM APPOINTMENTS. The balance-sheet of the camp canteen fund, showing that £1020 Is. 2d. has been distributed to the 24th Reinforcements and other units in camp, leaving a balance of £2040 2s. 3d. available for future distribution to the 25thi, 26th, and 27 .Reinforcements. Each of the infantry companies in the 24th received £73 6s. Sd., and the other units in proportion. Tho following n.c.o.'s of the N.Z.M.C. have just" been promoted: 3/1563 Staff Sergt. B. H. Taylor, to be regimental quartermaster-sergeant; 3/2675 Lce.-Corpl. J. Meyer, to be corporal. The undermentioned having passed qualifying examination and their promotion having been approved have been granted temporary rank in the Expeditionary Force as stated: Headquarters Staff.' Q.M. Cardale has relinquished his appointment as Chief Instructor of Mounted Rifles, and the temporary rank pi major, while' so employed, as from March 31, 1917, retaining the temporary rank of captain while employed in the Expeditionary Force training camps. Capt. (temp, major) G. F. Hutton, D.5.0., has taken over the appoint.ment of Chief Instructor of Mounted. Rifles, as from April 1, retaining tho temporary rank of-major whilst so employed. Statf-Sergt. Royden M'Dowell has been appointed assistant in charge of supplies, Featherston Camp, with the rank of 2nd lieutenant (on probation).
