Christchurch, April 7. All tho coal miues were idle yester day and to-day,

'i'lie voting at Stockton on Thursday night was unanimously in favour pf ceasing work. At Millerton there was a majority of 217. Denniston decided by a majority of twelve to continue work, but.when the decisions elsewhere were ascertained they also ceased work.

The watersiders are loading the coal in stock, but it will all be disposed of to-day. Train services will necessarily be cut down.
