Hanan and'the Board of Education the following requests were made hearing on technical education by Mrs. Baume:— . * Manual training of teachers be placed under a Dominion scale. Abolition of capitation. Immediate grant to divide centres in order to make smaller classes and inoreased accommodation Modification of syllabus. Women inspectors appointed for domestic science work. ' Compulsorv continuation classes to be held in the daytime. j Tho Minister strongly commended 1 all the requests with the exception of that appertaining to the abolition of capitation. Regarding: this, he said that it would be imprudent tn accede to tho request. In respect to women inspectors for domestic, science work, the Minister was in sympathy. He was brinein'p; down matters which he thought would meet tho case.

In reply., to a question regarding teachers on service, Mr. Hanan stated that all theiv positions were, temporarily filled. Soldiers' places were heinq; lield for them. Ho would hn nloased to see that tljoy did not suffer in regard to promotion.,
