THE BIG MUNITIONS EXPLOSION
REPORT ON THE EAST LONDON' DISASTER. (Ike. Maroh 28, 8.55 p.m.) London, March 27. The Press Bureau publishes the Home Secretary's Committee report of the explosion in East London on January 19. It states: "The explosion was preceded by a firo in a melting pot. How it started the evidence was not sufficient to determine, but all accidental causes presenting any degree of probability may be eliminated except that of detonation from a spark arising from friotion or impact, or, secondly, spontaneous ignition, due to decomposition in the materials in or about the melting pot." The committees various recommendations regarding tho future precautions for handling tho explosivo conoerned! is now being followed. Sixtynine were killed on the spot, ninetyoight wero seriously wounded, four were in a d.vins condition, 328 wero slightly injured, and from 500 to 600 cuts and bruises woro treated in the streets. — Cable AssUrtßontor,. :
