The Hon. Sir James Allen will make, a visit of inspection to Awapuni Camp to-day. Awapuni is the camp where the personnel of the New Zealand Medical Corps are trained.' The Hon. G. W. Russell will return from the north this morning. The reappointment of the Hon.- W. C. F. Carncross to the Legislative Council is gazetted. Mr. J. S. Storey has been reappointed by the Government to the'Marlborough Land Bdard. A Press Association message from Sydney reports that it is -unofficially stated that Dr. Gilruth has been reappointed Administrator of the Northern Territory for five years. A late message states that although it is reported that the Minister for the Interior has approved of Mr. Gilruth's re-appoint-ment, Cabinet's consideration of the matter has reaohed no finality. The Hon. P. E. Blondin, Canadian Postmaster-General, has volunteered for overseas service, and resigned hi 3 portfolio.—Press Assn. The headmaster of tho Church of England Grammar School, Melbourne (Mr. R. P, Franklin, M.A.), has onlifled for active service. In October last, when men were called up by proclamation,- an application made by the council of the Grammar School far exemption for Mr. Franklin was refused by Mr. E. Notley Moore, P.M., but on appeal to the Supreme Court the decision was upset, and exemption was granted. Sir. A. H. Stevenson, assistant city rate collector, has resigned from the service of the City Corporation after eighteen years' service. At last evening's meeting of the council it was decided to forward a letter to Mr. Stevenson expressing appreciation of long services rendered. Itowas also agreed to. grant him a month's leave of absence.
v The members of the "Damaged; Goods" Company arrived from the south yesterday morning. Most of them proceed on to Sydney, but others; will remain in "Wellington to join up with the "Seven Keys to Baldpate '• Company, which opens here at Easter.
