LATEST CHANGES A BIG LIST ISSUED The following military appointmontn have been made: — The Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillory. Honorary Lieutenant and Quartermaster Robert George Vining Parker, Artillery Store Acountant, to bo honorary captain, with effect from March 9, I'JI7. Queen Alexandra's 2nd (Wellington West Coast) Mounted Rifles. 2nd Lieutenant William Richard Foley, to be lieutenant. 2nd Lieutenant Claudo Albert Marchant is Btruck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force and absorbed into the establishment with his original rank and seniority therein, viz., 2nd lieutenant. Bth South Canterbury Mounted Rifles. Major Peter Jenkins Wain is appointed musketry instructor _ (temporarily) for the Canterbury Military District, with effect from March 14, 1917. 9th (Wellington East Coast) Mounted l Rifles. The undermentioned 2nd lieutenants to bo lieutenants: Allan f&udisl; Wilder and Augustine Georgetti. Lieut. William Leslie Coleman is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and absorbed into the establishment with his _ original rank and seniority therein, viz., lieutenant. 10th (Nelson) Mounted Rifles. Captain James David Barnett is Btruck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and absorbed into the establishment with_ his original rank and seniority therein, viz., captain. Lieutefiaßi Ernest John William Freeth is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force and absorbed into tile Reserve of Officers with his original rank arid seniority therein, viz", lieutenant. \ New Zealand Field Artillery. Lieutenant (temporary _ Captain)' Irvine Watson Cowie relinquishes the temporary rank of captain on being posted to the N.Z. Expeditionary Force. Corps of jNew Zealand Engineers. Mounted Signal Troops (Canterbury): John Charles Guinnesß to be 2nd lieutspant (temporary), vice 2nd Lieut. E. R. Guinness, on active service.

New Zealand Post and Telegraph Corps. North Island Battalion : The appointment of 2nd Lieut, (temporary) Ernest James Smith is terminated.

4th (Otago) Regiment. The commission granted Lieut. Albert Charles Crimp is cancelled under the provisions of Section 5 (a) of tlie Defence Act, 1909. Coast Defence Detachment. Lieutenant Charles Edwin Gilbert is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force and absorbed into the establishment with the original rank of 2nd lieutenant. 14th (South Otago) .Regiment. The undermentioned to be 2nd lieutenants temporarily—John Petrie Lyall and Hugh Graham' M'Clymont. New Zealand Army Service Corps. Lieutenant Oliver Duff, No. 6 Company, Otago, is transferred to No. 7 Company, Canterbury. New Zealand Medical Corps. John Pearce Whetter, M.8., 8.5., Edin., to be captain. New Zealand Dental Corps. Cyril. Elias Trayton Woods to be lieutenant. Now Zealand Chaplains' Department. The Rev. James Gib,b, Chaplain to the-Forces, 3rd Class, is posted to the retired list.' The Right Rev. Bishop Churchill Julius, D.D., Chaplain to the Forces, 3rd Class, to be chaplain, 2nd Class. The Rev. James Joseph M'Menamin, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, to be chaplain, 3rd Class (temporarily), whilst employed with the N.Z. Expeditionary Force. The Rev. Thomas Fielden Taylor is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force and absorbed' with his original seniority, viz., Chaplain to the. Forces, 3rd Class. Unattached List (b). 2nd Lieutenant Guy Spencer Cheeseman, to be lieutenant. Lieutenant James Dobson Campbell is appointed area, officer. No. 4 Group, Auckland Military District. , Lieutenant Jack Horneman is appointed area officer. No. 1 Group, Auckland Military District. 2nd Lieutenant Owen Gwyn Thomas is granted the temporary rank of lieutenant whilst cmnloyed as O.C. Details in Trentham Camp.

Lieutenant Kossuth Skoghmd is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force and absorbed with his original rank and seniority, viz., lieutenant. Memoranda. 2nd Lieutenant, on probation. Noel F. Trolove, appointed May 18, 1916, is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force. AVith reference to the notice published in tile New Zealand Gazette of December'l4. 191G, "Transfer of Officers on the Unattached List (K), General List, now serving with the N.Z. Expeditionary Force to the Ifew Zealand Uiflo Brieado," undermentioned names arc deleted:—2nd Lieutenant Guy Norman Morris, 2nd Lieutenant John Blvth Austin, 2nd Lieutenant FhjiiV Mitchell, 2nd Lieutenant William Robert Setter, i N.Z. Medical Corps. Major William Nathaniel Carlon Bond, adjutant and quartermaster N.Z. hospital ship Mahono, is taken on ■ the strength.
