SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY

A pleasant evening was spent at the Sailors'- Friend Society last night, when in consequenco of the number of ships in port an unusually large audience assembled, and very mucli appreciated the concert and entertainment arranged by Mrs. T. E. Jones. _ Musical and other items wero contributed by Miss •Chapman, Mr. T. E. Jones, Mr. Cate, Miss Mary Cooley, Miss Peggy Jones and Mr. J. Searle, Captain J. B. Macfarlane, Miss Dymock, Miss Morgan. Songs were also given by Mossrs. Smith,- Tulchcr, and Jeffs, members of some of the ships' crews, and Mr. Stride played a round of popular choruses, which were thoroughly enjoyed. Refreshments were kindly provided by tho hostess, Mrs. T. E. Jones.
