v "TOO MANY HORSE TRAINERS." By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, March I^. Before the Military Appeal Board today George Henry Frost, horse trainer, New Brighton, asked for three months' extension of time to lix up business •matters. The chairman (Mr. H. W. Bishop. S.M.) said lie would "sit down" on tliis apepal, as lie considered there were too many other horse trainers in tlio country. Tiio appeal was dismissed. Arthur Hill, boot repairer, who appealed on religious grounds, said he was not prepared to perform non-com-batant service under the control of tlio military authorities. • Appellant, who wore his hair tied round his head in a pig-tail and possessed a long beard, said ho be'ortgod to the Society of the J House of Israel. Captain Spratt said that, according to the tenets of appellant's sect, the hair must not be touclijed in any way. The Sikhs held a similar belief, but they wors a uniform. Appellant said lis had no desiro to I wear the King's filiform. He and I his brother were tile only members of I the society in New Zealand. Tlio. chairman said that the holy sects exempted from combatant service were tlio, Quakers and Cliristadelphians. However, if the appellant chose to sign an undertaking to perform non-combat-ant service, tlio board would accept that. Appellant refused to sign such, I and had his appeal dismissed.
