MASTERTON NOTES
The question of the severe tax imposed upon parents in the matter of providing school books and requisites was discussed at a- meeting of the Masterton District High School Committee ' on Thursday evening. The_ committee decided to write the Education Department, asking it to provido school books and stationery to' school children. - The actual receipts of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust for the past eleven months amounted to £2420 19s. 3d. The roll number of the Masterton school is at present 924. The Presbyteriali Association of the Wairarapa hold a rally or. the Solway showgrounds on Friday. Thero was a large gathering, including visitors from all parts of the district. The 0 Rev. W. Mawson, M.A., gave a most " interesting address upon the mission--0 ary work in China. J _ Of eighteen men who have voluntari ily enlisted for service at the northern r end of the Wairarapa during tho last ! few days, eleven are farmers or farm > assistants. i' • '
