TEACHERS'INSTITUTE.
■ The adjourned meeting of the AVcllington Branch of tho New Zealand Educational Institute was held last night. Mr. Ballachey presided, and there was an attendance of about thirty teachers. The delegates to the annual conference of the N.Z.E.I, submitted verbal reports of the conference meeting, roferriiig especially to the institute's demands for reduction in tie size of big classes, aud for abolition of education districts. 'The delegates were accorded a. hearty vote of thanks for their services. After a very long discussion it was agreed that the subscription be 15s. for teachers earning between £110 and £250, and 255. for teachers earning, £250 and upwards. Miss Rowley gave notice to move at next meeting that in view of the need for bettor provision for the education of children after leaving the primary school a second class high school for girls be established in Wellington. Miss Rowley intimated that when she submitted the motion she would explain clearly what she meant by "second class."
